Testicular germ cell tumors represent a significant challenge in the field of oncology, despite their relatively low incidence. This article focuses on current approaches in their treatment, emphasizing the optimization of care and minimizing the risk of relapse and treatment toxicity. Standard procedures such as orchiectomy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and lymphadenectomy are discussed. Special attention is given to the role of new biomarkers, such as miR-371a-3p, which improve the accuracy of diagnosis and treatment monitoring. The article also reflects current trends in therapy de-escalation and research of new targeted therapeutic approaches, including...

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a global epidemic characterized by elevated blood glucose levels with significant morbidity and mortality. DM can lead to acute and chronic complications in virtually all body organs, including the urogenital system. The issue of diagnosis and treatment of diabetic patients with urological and andrological problems is complex, extremly serious and constantly evolving. The article deals with the most common urological conditions that are specific to DM. Urological complications can last an unrecognizably long time, often oligosymptomatically, but they are often life-threatening for patients. The proper tretment of these diseases...

Palliative care is now a fully recognized part of complex medicine and offers a completely irreplaceable approach to the care of not only oncological patients. It includes a set of treatment procedures that do not aim to cure the given diagnosis, but to ensure the patient with an incurable disease, in the pre-terminal or terminal phase of life, maximum comfort, taking into account his physical and psychological problems. The urologist deals not only with primarily urological diagnosis, but also helps with the diagnosis and treatment of urological complications of primarily other diseases. The presented article aims to point out the role of the urologist...

Spinal cord injury is one of the most serious disabilities interfering with a number of the body's physiological systems. The management of spinal patients is challenging, requiring a multidisciplinary approach and specialized care. For this reason, a spinal programme has been established in the Czech Republic for more than 20 years. Proper urological care is important immediately after the injury. During the stay at spinal rehabilitation units, it is tailored to the particular individual. It is always based on a thorough urological evaluation as well as functional and cognitive abilities of the patient. Collaboration between the rehabilitation team...

This review article provides a comprehensive view of diagnostics of renal tumours from perspective of different disciplines involved in the diagnosis and treatment of renal tumours (urologists, clinical oncologists, radiologists and pathologists). Diagnostic strategies, treatment options, and the importance of a multidisciplinary team to optimize treatment outcomes for patients with renal tumors outside the renal pelvis are discussed.

The review article addresses the issues of outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy (OPAT) in urology. OPAT is a treatment modality that allows intravenous administration of antibiotics in an outpatient setting. Urology is one of the fields where OPAT can be utilized, most commonly to treat urinary tract infections caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria (e. g., ESBL-producing strains) in patients whose health condition does not require hospitalization. OPAT can be implemented in several ways: administering long-acting antibiotics (ceftriaxone, ertapenem, gentamicin, and amikacin) once daily at the clinic or the application of various antibiotics continuously...

The liquid biopsy is a new promising option in diagnosis, monitoring during the treatment and early detection of relapse. A big advantage of liquid biopsy is its mini-invasivity, the possibility of frequent repetition and thus real-time monitoring of the disease. This article summarizes the current results of liquid biopsy in urological malignancies.

Phimosis, a condition in which the foreskin is too tight to be retracted over the glans, is a frequent reason for a child's visit to the doctor. Its treatment depends on the correct diagnosis and patient complaints. In primary, or congenital phimosis, the approach is as conservative as possible; in acquired, or secondary, phimosis, most cases require a circumcision to be performed. The mainstay of conservative treatment is proper care of the boy's penis allowing a spontaneous development of the foreskin that can be promoted by local administration of a corticoid ointment. When circumcision is indicated, its extent will be determined by the intraoperative...

Authors present a case report of patient with post-traumatic high-flow (arterial) priapism and the subsequent therapeutic approach consisting of endovascular superselective embolization of bilateral pseudoaneurysm of cavernosal bodies, which lead to preservation of erection function in almost full extent.

While breast cancer represents the most common form of malignancy in women, breast metastases associated with extramammary malignancies are very rare. Metastatic breast tumors account for less than 1 % of all breast malignancies, with the majority originating in the contralateral breast. Although the renal cell carcinoma is the most common form of cancer of the urogenital tract, only a few cases of breast metastases have been described. We present a case report of a woman with synchronous metastasis in the breast in 2016. 6 years after nephrectomy was developed metachronic metastasis in the same breast. The patient is free of metastases apart from...

We describe a case report of a 69-year-old male with suspicious 30 mm mass in the area of left adrenal gland detected on ultrasound examination. Based on imaging examinations it was not possible to rule out a malignant potential of the lesion. The patient underwent left side adrenalectomy, the histological examination revealed a moderately differentiated, well-circumscribed leiomyosarcom. The adrenal gland was without infiltration. There were no signs of metastatic disease. According to the recommendation of multidisciplinary oncology team, he is placed under surveillance. The patient underwent a follow-up restaging CT 6 months after the surgery with...
