MUDr. Milan Král, Ph.D.
Urologická klinika LF UP a FN Olomouc

Palliative care is now a fully recognized part of complex medicine and offers a completely irreplaceable approach to the care of not only oncological patients. It includes a set of treatment procedures that do not aim to cure the given diagnosis, but to ensure the patient with an incurable disease, in the pre-terminal or terminal phase of life, maximum comfort, taking into account his physical and psychological problems. The urologist deals not only with primarily urological diagnosis, but also helps with the diagnosis and treatment of urological complications of primarily other diseases. The presented article aims to point out the role of the urologist and emphasize the most common urological symptoms affecting patients in the advanced stages of not only malignant urological diseases.

Keywords: paliative care, urology, oncology, therapy.
