Pyuria (leukocyturia) is a typical sign of urinary tract infections and is usually accompanied by bacteriuria in the urinesediment. In sterile (abacterial) pyuria, there is no finding of bacteriuria in the urine sediment and the urine culture isnegative. As a matter of fact, sterile pyuria is not rare and occurs in the population in 14 % of women and 3 % of men. Thearticle deals with the most frequent causes of sterile pyuria and briefly presents the basic diagnostic options within thedifferential diagnosis.

The last 25 years witnessed great changes in the reconstructive surgical procedures on the female pelvic floor. This development hadpredominantly been spurred on by an increasing number of relapses after traditional surgery had been performed. Positive results thatwere accomplished while using the mesh in laparoscopic hernia and stress incontinence surgeries also built a foundation for implantingthe mesh in pelvic organ prolapse (POP) surgery. As a result, this technology has today been used routinely in correcting the POPs. Afterit was introduced, the amount of anatomical relapse cases has decreased although it cannot be asserted with full confidence...

Renal cell carcinoma, even in the metastatic setting, can be treatable, thus extending patient survival significantly. Cabozantinibadministered after failure of treatment with tyrosine kinase inhibitors substantially prolonged the overall survival, delayed diseaseprogression, and improved the rate of objective responses in patients with advanced clear-cell renal cell carcinoma whohad received antiangiogenic therapy. Patients treated with it can maintain a good quality of life with an acceptable safety profile.

Serum tumor markers (onkomarkers) play critical role in diagnosis, staging, risk stratification and prognosis of patients with testicular tumors. They are usefull as an important index to monitor during the therapy and than aids in the early detection of disease recurrence. Commontesticular cancer tumor markers are α-fetoprotein (AFP), human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH). The limitationof these markers is sensitivity and specificity. There are many others conditions that can cause elevation of these markers. Because ofthat new markers are finding, the biggest potential have studies based on detection of non-coding RNAs...

Penile cancer is a disease with a very low incidence in the Czech Republic. For this reason it is advisable that patients withthis diagnosis be referred to and managed in centres where the staff has experience with this disease. This centralizationof care leads to better oncological outcomes. The paper presents the latest update of the TNM classification and the newhistopathological classification of premalignant lesions, which facilitates and refines the indications to surgical treatment. The authors provide an overview of the options of surgical treatment both in terms of treatment of the primary tumour andin terms of management of nodal involvement....

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a demyelinating disease of unknown etiology that affects the central nervous system – both the brain andthe spinal cord. Male fertility can be compromised in the neurological patient by erectile dysfunction (ED), ejaculation disorder, impaired sperm quality or various combinations of these three disorders. ED can be managed by an increasingly invasive rangeof treatments including medications, injection therapy and the surgical insertion of a penile implant. Retrograde ejaculation ismanaged by medications to reverse the condition in mild cases and in bladder harvest of semen after ejaculation in more severecases. Anejaculation...
