Urolithiasis is among the most common urological diseases. Given its frequency, manifestations, and complications, it is a serious medical problem. Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men. Advances in the field of molecular immunology are leading to a deeper understanding of the interactions between the immune system and cancer, allowing identification of new targets in the immune system and resulting in the development of new anticancer agents. Immunotherapy is emerging as another promising treatment modality in prostate cancer in addition to classic hormonal therapy, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The aim of this review is to present an overview of current immunotherapeutic approaches, which are being clinically tested in the management of prostate cancer.

Urinary incontinence in patients constitute a major health, psychological and social problem. Botulinum toxin is a substance which blocks the presynaptic release of acetylcholine. When applying to the bladder detrusor muscle leads to its reversible paralysis. Botulinum toxin can be used to treat urinary incontinence due to detrusor overactivity. Currently it is mainlyt used for the treatment of neurogenic detrusor overactivity. The therapeutical effect lasts 6–9 months, continence is restored in up to 80 % of patients. Treatment also has a significant impact on the improvement of urodynamic parameters such as increased cystometric capacity...

Recently, a big emphasis is laid not only on treatment of prostate cancer but also on Health-related quality of life of patient (HRQOL). Instruments (questionnaires) assessing HRQOL can be generally-oriented or disease-specific. Making of or translating a questionnaire is a standardized process performed under strict rules of psychometric testing. Characterization and objective evaluation of HRQOL using validated Instruments is useful when deciding about specific-patient-oriented treatment. Authors constantly search the Golden mean – a questionnaire with a number of items as low as possible that describes patient's state in the most...

A number of various factors, including not only psychological factors, but currently more increasingly socioeconomic ones, can be responsible for the patient’s becoming problematic. Correct treatment of these patients requires a good understanding of the individual factors and the establishing of a good-quality therapeutic relationship. It is sometimes difficult to avoid personal antipathy in treating these patients; nevertheless, even appropriate communicative skills with a problematic patient should be a part of a...

Czech Republic) on inflammatory biomarkers in treating symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia Chronic prostatic inflammation (CPI) can cause symptomatic or complicated benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Based on available data, Capistan, a hexane extract of Serenoa repens (HESr), has anti-inflammatory properties. The aim of the present study was to provide a new insight into the anti-inflammatory effects of HESr by investigating the effect on CPI biomarkers in men with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to BPH, while using non-invasive methods and exploring the association between the level of biomarkers and clinical symptoms.
