The principal treatment of monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis with desmopressin or enuretic alarm has a success rate of 60-80% in an unselected group of enuretic children. In patients not responding to first-line therapy, previous diagnostic and therapeutic management must be re-evaluated carefully. Possible constipation and upper airway obstruction need to be addressed. When further improvements in lifestyle measures and proper adherence to the principal treatment fail to solve the problem, second-line therapy is recommended. Combination therapy with desmopressin and anticholinergics is most commonly administered. If enuresis continues to...

Lithiasis is among diseases with a high recurrence rate, particularly in patients who have predisposing (genetic or acquired) factors and fail to adhere to preventive measures to reduce the recurrence rate. In addition to previously established ethnic and other locoregional aspects, the most important factors for developing lithiasis include the volume and specific gravity of urine dependent on regular and sufficient hydration of the individual, concentration of lithogenic factors and inhibitors of urinary crystallization and urine pH. The most important measures in preventing the development of lithiasis include sufficient fluid intake, reduced...

Robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (da Vinci prostatectomia dVP) is currently the most often performed robotic operation in Czech Republic. After uncomplicated surgery patients may benefit from all post-operative advantages of minimally invasive surgery. Relatively long operation takes place with capnoperitoneum and in a steep trendelenburg position. Subsequent pathophysiological changes may cause a risk for patients with associated diseases and significant restrictions of organ functions. However on the set of 500 dVP performed in the Masaryk Hospital in Ústí nad Labem (3) it is seen, that in respect of contraindications, by preoperative...

Treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) in patients with impaired penile innervation, e.g. following radical prostatectomy, remains a pressing issue in a number of patients. Current treatment (first-line therapy) of erectile dysfunction is mostly based on the use of phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE5i), i.e. sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil, etc. Given its mechanism of action, this treatment, however, requires at least a partial preservation of penile innervation allowing for conduction of impulses to occur during sexual stimulation. The paper presents a case of a 48-year-old patient after radical prostatectomy for cancer in whom treatment...

From both cases and controls was obtained level of exposure to ionizing radiation, focusing on the number of X-ray examinations in related to work classification, radiation for medical reasons and in women, whether and how often undergo they mammography. Results: When evaluating the number of X-ray examination related...
