TESTICULAR CANCER

prof. MUDr. Dalibor Ondruš DrSc, RNDr. PhDr. Martina Cuninková

Urolog. pro Praxi, 2005; 1: 6-9

Testicular cancer is the most freqent malignancy among 20–40 years old males. There has been significant increase of its incidence during last 40 years, with reference to individual countries. Despite these facts the management of testicular cancer is on the highest level from all the urological malignancies. There have been new challenges in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of therapeutic toxicity. The most important way of therapeutic modalities is the multidisciplinary approach (surgery and the cisplatin-based chemotherapy). The research on drug-toxicity elimination has been still proceeding.

MUDr. Jan Krhut, MUDr. Karel Mainer Ph.D, Bc. Romana Holáňová

Paruresis is a pathological condition characterized by inability to urinate during nonstandard situations. The most frequent is presence of other people during micturia, foreign environment, time stress, etc. From psychology-psychiatry view it belongs to obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorder (OCSD), or to so called social phobias. There is no attention paid to this dysfunction from urologist side, in spite of possible development of serious miction dysfunction. The most important is cognitive-behavioral therapy; the effect of pharmacotherapy is relatively small. Authors present a review of the problem and describe a case-report from their own clinical...

MUDr. Zbyněk Veselský Ph.D, MUDr. Miroslav Förstl, MUDr. Petr Macek

Urolog. pro Praxi, 2005; 1: 26-27

Chlamydiae are gram negative intracellular bacteria, which carry some characters ranging them among unusual microbes – an intracellular way of life, specific life cycle and wall composition (muramic acid), inability of ATP synthesis (one can encounter a term „energetic parasite“). According to World Health Organisation, out of more than 500 millions of sexually transmitted diseases annually nearly 1/5 (approx. 90 millions) is caused by Chlamydiae. Moreover these data are not accurate, because these infections (except for infections of L1, L2, L3 and La2 serotypes of Chlamydia trachomatis, causing lymphogranuloma venerum) are not a...
