Fast-track method of accelerated rehabilitation after surgery, also called ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery), is a set ofprotocols aimed to reducing hospitalization time, reduce patient morbidity and increase the effectiveness of surgery. ERAS isan interdisciplinary approach and a lot of studies clearly demonstrate the advantages of these approach for a variety of surgicalprocedures, including radical cystectomy (RC). The article discusses the various aspects and benefits of this comprehensive process.ERAS requires good interdisciplinary collaboration, a clear common aim of preserving individual approach in the contextof personalized medicine. Despite numerous studies confirming the clinical safety and usefulness of ERAS (including economic),these protocols come into routine practice relatively slowly.
