Bladder cancer is the most common cancer of the urinary system. In the ranking of all cancer it is the ninth most frequently diagnosed cancer in the world. Incidence rates rises sharply with age but mortality remains relatively stable in recent years. The aim of this review is to give a comprehensive view of bladder cancer. The first part of the review is devoted to the occurrence of bladder cancer in the Czech Republic and in the world. The second part summarizes an overview about the potential risks and the protection factors for formation of bladder cancer.

External genitalia in children are most frequently affected by congenital anomalies. Phimosis, cryptorchidism, hydrocele and varicocele in adolescents are most common and are met in routine praxis not only by paediatric urologists, but adult urologists, paediatric surgeons and paediatricens too. Authors review actual knowledge and recommendations concerning these issues with special attention to work up and treatment indications.

Despite decrease of locally advanced prostate cancers due to early detection programs, both urologists and oncologists are facing not negligible number of such patients. Their therapy often needs specific approach. While, previously, these advanced stages of cancers were matter of radiotherapy, nowdays radical prostatectomy plays an important role because of optimistic oncologic and functional results. A short review on the progress in andrological endocrinology made in last five years is presented. Besides the basic research, which discovered new aspects on central control of the secretion of sexual hormones, in centre of interest were hormonal influences on male sexual dysfunction, proofs of benefit of testosterone supplementation in hypogonadism of aging population, the relation of androgens and civilization diseases as diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome or cardiovascular diseases. A serious threat for the future is the negative influence of industrial products acting as endocrine disruptors on human reproductive functions.

The case report presents nocturnal polyuria combined with bulbar urethral stricture. The achievement of gradual elimination of urological complaints in an otherwise healthy patient is described. The need to take into consideration this frequent, but often neglected part of urological symptoms and the importance of evaluating the drinking and voiding chart are stressed. Also emphasized is the risk of hyponatremia with the treatment with Minirin® Melt, which, however, did not occur in our case report.

The article describes a case of a patient with a very rare benign storage disease appearing in skelet that was imitating a metastatic spread of an advanced renal cell carcinoma. Even a very unlikely case of coincidence of rare diseases can be real in the clinical practice. Such a situation can lead to an erroneous diagnostic workup. Radical prostatectomy is one of the methods for a radical cure of localized prostate cancer. With the increasing occurrence of this disease the number of performed surgeries of this type increases too. Thanks to the growing awareness of the possibility of early recognition of prostate cancer by PSA in CR (including the f/T ratio) increasing numbers of patients look for help while still in the early stages of the disease (with a low total PSA value).
