Spinal cord injury is caused by a trauma in 70 % of patients, usually as a result of a trauma to the spinal cord. Incidence of spinal cord injury is estimated at 14 /1 000 000 worldwide and the number of new cases in Czech republic vary from 200 to 300 per a year. Neurogenic dysfunctions of lower urinary tract develop in 80 % of these patients. The principal point of the classification of lower urinary tract dysfunctions is the description of the affection of the both functional units: detrusor and urethral sphincters.

A causative pathogen in patient with prostatitis is detected by routine methods in less than 10 % of cases. This is classified as bacterial prostatitis and for these patients an antimicrobial therapy is performed on a rational basis. According to the duration of symptoms bacterial prostatitis can be described as either acute or chronic. This article summarize contemporary oppurtunities of miniinvasive treatment of the patientes with benign prostate hypertrophy (BPH). Uptodate pharmacological traetment offers to the patients good quality of life and decreased the risk of surgical intervention. Transurethral resection of the prostate (TUR-P) is still the golden standard of the treatment of BPH. The total number of the patientes treated by TUR-P is at present slowly decreasing. The reason is boom in miniinvasive methods, witch enable reaching the same or better resultes like the TURP with advantage of minimization of bleeding and TUR- syndrome. The incidence of malignant prostate tumours has been steadily increasing in recent decades making prostate cancer one of the most common male malignancies. In European countries, it accounts for approximately 16 % of malignant tumours in men. In European Union countries, 237,800 cases were diagnosed in 2004; the incidence in the Czech Republic was 83.4/100,000 (18). The mortality rate is about 4 % and does not vary much.
