Czech men (aprox. 54 %) suffer from erectile dysfunction (ED). Erectile dysfunction is defined as an inability to achieve and maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual intercourse. Erectile dysfunction is the first symptom of seriouse diseases, especially cardio vascular ones. Modern oral therapy by PDE 5 inhibitors is safe, effective and well tolerated. The second line therapy is based on intracavernous injections of prostaglandin E 1. ED therapy leeds to achievement partner’s satisfaction and quality of life of inable man.

Anticholinergic agents are widely used in medicine. In urology, they are the first-choice drugs in the treatment of overactive bladder. Their high efficacy has been proved in many clinical trials. The main drawback of this treatment is the relatively frequent occurrence of antimuscarinic side effects. The article mainly deals with the mechanism of origin of these annoying symptoms.

One of the problems of hemodialysis patients is a quantitative assessment of fluid balance and achieve normohydratation. BCM method (body composition monitor) allows us to noninvasively and accurately quantify the amount of body fluid, determine the optimal weight of the patient and then conserve the „physiological“ state of hydration.

The authors describe several psychological and sexological aspects (motivatiom, expectation etc.) of genital surgery in men and women. In these surgical interventions exclusion of risky groups of patients (in cooperation with psychologists, psychiatrists and sexologists) is usually of critical importance. There are also listed the most common forms of genital surgical interventions.

Gonorrhoea is one of the commonest sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and belongs among „classical STD“. Primary affects the columnar epithelium of urogenital tract with possible blood dissemination. The source of the disease is gram-negative, non-motile, nonspore forming diplococci form group Neisseriacae, species Neisseria, subspecies Neisseria (N.) gonorrhoeae. In the second part of the article we closely describe clinical picture and complications of male gonorrhoea, diagnostics and differential diagnosis of gonorrhoea.
