Overactive bladder (OAB) is a therm used for a complex of symptoms – urgency, frequency and urge incontinence. There doesn´t have to be all three symptoms expresed in one patient at the same time. It is not mandatory to perform urodynamic study for the diagnosis of OAB. Prevalence of OAB is high in our population and is getting even higher in last years. This makes OAB not only medical, but also socioeconomic problem. Lot of attention is paid to this problem in last years between urologists as well as between pharmaceutical compenies. This article gives overview about contemporary pharmacotherapy of OAB.

Urinary tract infections are considered to be the most common bacterial infections which occur with varying frequency throughout lifetime in both sexes. The main causative agents of acute lower urinary tract infections are primarily the uropathogenic strains of Escherichia coli. Overactive bladder (OAB) is characterised by urgency and/ or urge incontinence (UI) – OAB dry or OAB wet – usually with freqency (more than 8 times/ day and more than 2 times/ night), in the absence of local pathological or endocrine factors. The hematuria is always an important symptom of urinary tract disorders. Inflammation or trauma urinary tract is the main hematuria cause in chilhood. The urinary tract tumors are the leading hematurie cause in adults, rarely in children. The Wilms´tumor is the most frequent child urinary tract tumor with hematuria. Other singular tumors (renal cell carcinoma, epithelial tumors and rhabdomyosarcoma etc.) could present child hematuria too.
