Article presents the role and options of modern radiodiagnostic modalities – ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging – in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of renal lesions. These modalities allow to define a character of lesion in the kidney quickly and unequivocally to solid or cystic lesion and mainly if it is benign or malignant process (renal carcinoma versus angiomyolipoma or oncocytoma or cystic lesion according to Bosniak I-IV). Accurate classification is a basis for early initiation of treatment according to EAU guidelines.

The article deals with the issue of antibiotic therapy in urinary tract infections during pregnancy and lactation. In the introductory survey, the safety of individual types of antibiotics both for the pregnant woman and the fetus is discused. Also mentioned are certain physiological changes in pharmacokinetics in pregnant women directly related to the dosage of antibiotic preparations. Carcinoma of the prostate is the most frequent malignant tumour in men. Significant number of patients is primarily diagnosed with advanced disease or progress during the follow-up. New treatment regimens are being developed, which substantially decrease the risk of progression or effectively decrease the incidence of complications. These are bicalutamide and zoledronate in the first place. The article gives an overview and summary of recent opinions on the treatment of advanced carcinoma of prostate.

Carcinoma of the penis is a rare tumour of the male urogenital tract, that may be treated by using various modalities. Interstitial brachytherapy is an effective methode to achieve local control and to spare penile morphology and function. The indication are tumors with diameter of less than 4 cm with no invasion of the corpora cavernosa. In these cases, local control has been achieved in 85 % of patients.
