New penal code and its impact on health services

Czech lawmakers adopt hundreds of new legal regulations every year. Some of them are only marginally related to the area of health

services while others have a substantial effect on them. An example of the latter is the Act No. 40/2009 Coll. – the new penal code. The new

penal code took effect on 1 January 2010 and replaced the previous legal regulations that had been valid for nearly 50 years. The aim of this

article is to introduce health care professionals, at least in general, to what the new penal code brings to the area of health services.
