Autoři popisují zkušenosti s užitím hydrodistenze při obtížné katetrizaci mužské uretry. Metoda je užitečná zvláště u výrazně zvětšené prostaty. Princip spočívá v energickém vstřikování fyziologického roztoku stříkačkou do katétru při překonávání překážky. Technika je jednoduchá a bezpečná a umožní nekomplikované překonání prostatické uretry. Osvědčila se také při zavádění katétru při urodynamickém vyšetření.
