The tools assessing health-related quality of life in patients with prostate cancer

Recently, a big emphasis is laid not only on treatment of prostate cancer but also on Health-related quality of life of patient

(HRQOL). Instruments (questionnaires) assessing HRQOL can be generally-oriented or disease-specific. Making of or translating

a questionnaire is a standardized process performed under strict rules of psychometric testing. Characterization and objective

evaluation of HRQOL using validated Instruments is useful when deciding about specific-patient-oriented treatment. Authors

constantly search the Golden mean – a questionnaire with a number of items as low as possible that describes patient's state in

the most complex way.

Keywords: quality of life, HRQOL, questionnaire, EPIC, prostate cancer
