Malignant tumours of the renal parenchyma account for 1%–2% of all malignant tumours in adults. Carcinoma is the most common
tumour. Most carcinomas are sporadic, with only about 4% being familial. Mixed tumours are rare and, in the case of their
occurrence, one must bear in mind that these can be so-called hereditary carcinomas.
