The main aim of the research was to evaluate trend in the evidence of new diagnosed urinary stone patients, treated at department of urology,
Ceske Budejovice, and to evaluate, if the patients are informed sufficiently and if they are willing to change their life style. The survey,
using non-standardised questionnaire, was performed at the Department of Urology, Region Hospital Ceske Budejovice since January
2011 till December 2013. 123 patients, where first stone was diagnosed, were involved. Medical recodes was used for secondary analysis of
data of primary stone patients treated at the Department of Urology, Region Hospital Ceske Budejovice since 2009 till 2013. 644 patients
(471 men and 173 women) were found as patients treated for primary stone at this period. The higher incidence in men was confirmed. The
annual increase of new diagnosed cases was 129 patients (not statistically significant). Only half of the patients (53 %) follow the recommendation
of increased fluid intake of 2–3 litre per day and only third of the patients (35 %) follow the recommendation the restrictions. The
patients, who underwent invasive stone removal (ESWL, PNL or URS) are more likely to increase fluid intake than patients who passed stone
spontaneously. The willingness to change dietary regime is by affected quality of information about their drinking and dietary regime. The
motivation, including clear and detailed information of the patient by urologist and nurse is important for compliance.
