Scabies is relatively frequent, easily transmitted, infectious and intensively itchy parasitic dermatosis. It belongs among sexually transmitted
diseases. Its origin we can find in obligatory human parasite Sarcoptes scabiei, var. hominis. The reservoir of a contagion is the
man. Scabies affects all races and individuals of all socioeconomics groups. The incubation period ranges from two to six weeks. The
disease is characterised by an intensive night pruritus, mainly in warm and after staying in the bed. Diagnostics is based on carefully
history taking, clinical picture and demonstration of the parasite in skin of ill person. The treatment of scabies comprises the eradication
of parasites, the heal of the skin lesions, hygienic remedy, identification and retreatment contacts. In the article we describe the forms
of scabies, diagnostics, differential diagnosis, treatment and present legislation.
