Present aims of andrological endocrinology

A short review on the progress in andrological endocrinology made in last five years is presented. Besides the basic research, which

discovered new aspects on central control of the secretion of sexual hormones, in centre of interest were hormonal influences on male

sexual dysfunction, proofs of benefit of testosterone supplementation in hypogonadism of aging population, the relation of androgens

and civilization diseases as diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome or cardiovascular diseases. A serious threat for the future is the negative

influence of industrial products acting as endocrine disruptors on human reproductive functions.
