Robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (da Vinci prostatectomia dVP) is currently the most often performed robotic operation in Czech
Republic. After uncomplicated surgery patients may benefit from all post-operative advantages of minimally invasive surgery. Relatively
long operation takes place with capnoperitoneum and in a steep trendelenburg position. Subsequent pathophysiological changes may
cause a risk for patients with associated diseases and significant restrictions of organ functions. However on the set of 500 dVP performed
in the Masaryk Hospital in Ústí nad Labem (3) it is seen, that in respect of contraindications, by preoperative trying to compensate associated
diseases and by a knowledge of pathophysiological changes and their acceptance in course of general anesthesia, then the
number of peroperative complications is minimal.
