Patients with urolithiasis are an important part of everyday urological practice and the management of this frequent disease is also a major
health, social and economic problem for both the individual and society. The authors briefly present information concerning the current
options for diagnosis and treatment of urolithiasis. Its aetiopathogenesis is multifactorial with a number of risk factors – endogenous
and exogenous, renal and extrarenal – being involved in the development of calculi.
