Human papillomavirus (HPV) is responsible for the creation of many epithelial lesions, particularly in the anogenital area. Among the most common are those called condylomata accuminata. HPV can play a role in the etiology of dysplastic mucosal changes as well as in the appearance of a malignancy of the urogenital tract.
Only macroscopic lesions of HPV infection such as condylomata are treated. Subclinical lesions do not require any treatment. It has not been proved yet that the treatment of HPV infection could lead to the eradication of the virus from the tissues (5).
