RENAL MASS - DIAGNOSTIC ALGORYTHM AND THERAPEUTIC MANAGEMENT

MUDr. Milan Obšitník CSc
FNsP, Pracovisko Podunajské Biskupice - urologické oddelenie, Bratislava

Article presents the role and options of modern radiodiagnostic modalities – ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging – in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of renal lesions. These modalities allow to define a character of lesion in the kidney quickly and unequivocally to solid or cystic lesion and mainly if it is benign or malignant process (renal carcinoma versus angiomyolipoma or oncocytoma or cystic lesion according to Bosniak I-IV). Accurate classification is a basis for early initiation of treatment according to EAU guidelines.

Keywords: Key words: renal mass, renal cyst, renal carcinoma, sklerotherapy, laparoscopy, open surgery.
