Paruresis is a pathological condition characterized by inability to urinate during nonstandard situations. The most frequent is presence of other people during micturia, foreign environment, time stress, etc. From psychology-psychiatry view it belongs to obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorder (OCSD), or to so called social phobias. There is no attention paid to this dysfunction from urologist side, in spite of possible development of serious miction dysfunction. The most important is cognitive-behavioral therapy; the effect of pharmacotherapy is relatively small. Authors present a review of the problem and describe a case-report from their own clinical experience.

Keywords: Key words: social phobia, voiding dysfunctions, urinary retention, physiotherapy.
