A Treatment of Urine Incontinence by Hormonal Substitution in Female Patients

One third of all women in the period of postmenopause suffer from urine incontinence, i. e. twice more often then in men. As a result of the common embryonal basis of both systems it makes it posssible to verify the specific receptors to women´s genital hormones lack of which could be a reason for the presenting symptoms. These are an insignificant dyscomfort or polakisuria and finally nicturia which leads to manifest incontinence. The clinical results, following treatment with estrogens, are seen as controversial. A possible aetiology the involvement of a recurring urinary infection caused by by estrogen substitution in menopausal women.
