Pravděpodobně se velmi přiblížila doba, kdy čeští urologové budou moci opět zahrnout do léčebného spektra benigní hyperplázie prostaty (BPH) finasterid. Tedy ne, že by dosud nemohli, ale cena léku do značné míry omezovala jeho předepisování ve větším měřítku, a tak na rozdíl od západních zemí, kde je poměr zastoupení mezi alfa-blokátory a finasteridem přibližně 3:1, preskribce finasteridu v Čechách výrazně zaostává. Protože vývoj postupuje kupředu rychle, snad nebude na škodu si krátce připomenout, jaké místo zaujímá finasterid v rukou urologa dnes.
