The incidence of most tumour diseases has been increasing in the last decades. Despite technical progress in radiotherapy and pharmacology and in spite of the development of mini-invasive surgical methods, potential complications of anticancer treatment continue more or less unabated. In urology, one may encounter iatrogenic injury to the urinary tract, whether following surgical treatment or administration of ionizing radiation. The administration of systemic chemotherapy may negatively affect gonadal functions as well as immunity, thereby worsening the course of urinary tract infections. The article presents the most common complications encountered...

Erectile dysfunction is a relatively common health issue, with more than half of men aged 35–65 years in the Czech Republic having a certain degree of the disease. The causes of erectile dysfunction can be psychogenic and organic, with the organic ones including anatomical, neurogenic, hormonal, and vascular causes. Erectile dysfunction can be the first warning sign of serious disease; therefore, one should not be content with symptomatic treatment only, but a patient with erectile dysfunction should always undergo a comprehensive evaluation. This can result in improved prognosis as well as better quality of life.

Proteinuria is not only a cardinal sign of primary and secondary nephropathies, but also an independent pathogenic factor of progression of these diseases. Along with the serum creatinine level, red blood cell urine test, and renal ultrasound, qualitative and quantitative data on proteinuria belong to the basic nephrological evaluation. In routine practice, the dipstick test is used for the screening of proteinuria; this, however, cannot detect microalbuminuria, Bence-Jones proteinuria (free light chains, for instance, in multiple myeloma), and signs of tubulointerstitial diseases. For a more precise evaluation of albuminuria and/or proteinuria, the...

The authors describe the case of a patient with the tumor of the upper pole of the left kidney, incidentally detected sonographically, which was performed in July 2011 due to a right hypogastric pain. There were no dissemination detected by imaging before operation. Histologically, after the left-sided radical transperitoneal nephrectomy, there was confirmed leiomyosarcoma of the kidney – low grade, no lymph nodes was positive. Even though the bad prognosis of these tumor group, the patient is right now 5 years after the nephrectomy with no detection of a local recurrence or metastases.

Burn injuries of the penis belong to the rare cases of urological clinical practise, but acute phase management plays a key role, especially in conditions where plastical surgery care is not available. This case report, is about a 47 year-old psychiatric patient, treated for schizophrenia and with a history of self-harm. Here are described the diagnostic steps and mutilation range classification used in a prophylactic system therapy. Urological measures include the urethral or suprapubic cathetrization, first line surgical treatment like the escharotomy and tangential necrectomy with the intent of tissue revitalisation until local conservative preparation...

In the Czech Republic it is annually diagnosed about 400 cases, the incidence of testicular cancer is increasing. The disease is curable, if it is early diagnosis. Regular preventive examinations will reduce disease progression and the nurse at GPCY (general practitioner for children and adolescents) plays an irreplaceable role in this prevention. The aim of the research was to determine the awareness on testicular cancer prevention in boys 15–19. There...
